Breastfeeding Room Change Location

Many students with children struggle to balance their academic responsibilities with their parenting duties. Providing a breastfeeding room in the library can help alleviate this challenge by offering a dedicated space where parents can care for their children while still having access to academic resources. This initiative addresses the unique needs and experiences of caregivers. The breastfeeding room demonstrates the institution's commitment to diversity and inclusivity by acknowledging and accommodating the needs of a diverse student population, including those with caregiving responsibilities. 
 
This room is located on the 1st  floor of Leddy Library (W118 – First floor WEST building). It will be available during library hours, accommodating various schedules and study habits. It is a comfortable and private space, equipped with: 

  • Refrigerator 
  • Electric kettle 
  • Microwave oven 
  • Comfortable seating 
  • Diaper change table 

Breastfeeding Room: Policies

  • Please note that the room is locked at all times unless it is booked 
  • Caregivers must checkout a room key at the library Information Desk at the time of their booking. 
  • The room has a capacity of 1 adult and 2 children 
  • Caregivers are expected to clean up after themselves and leave the room in good condition for the next users, and disposing of trash.
  • The Fridge should be empied at the end of a booking.
  • Caregivers are encouraged to wipe down all furniture prior and after use. 
  • Caregivers must use the change table for diaper changes and the trash bin for disposal of soiled diapers.  
  • Caregivers must vacate the breastfeeding Room 30 minutes before Leddy closes. 
  • Violation of these or other applicable library policies may result in loss of access to the Breastfeeding Room
