Building a Data Management Plan (DMP) for your Research Project, introduces researchers to the purpose, structure, benefits and evolving requirements of creating a clear plan for managing research data throughout the project lifecycle. Participants will learn about the key components of a DMP—including data collection and documentation, storage and security, sharing and preservation, and roles and responsibilities. Using examples, templates, and the federally endorsed DMP Assistant tool, the session will help participants anticipate ethical and legal considerations, plan for long-term preservation, and ensure their projects meet Tri-Council requirements. Attendees will leave with practical strategies and a draft outline they can adapt for their own research.
