This session presents on the wide variety of confidential microdata files available to University of Windsor researchers through the Statistics Canada Research Data Centre, located in Leddy Library. Unlike public use microdata files, confidential microdata from major Canadian surveys and administrative sources allow for powerful statistical analysis of variables that are normally supressed due to confidentiality in public files. As a secure data enclave, the University of Windsor RDC is a rich trove of data for quantitative researchers across disciplines. This session also explains the application process for access and highlights outstanding University of Windsor publication outputs. The status of the $17.4 million CFI-funded virtual infrastructure, being developed by the Canadian Research Data Centre Network (CRDCN) and Statistics Canada, will also be presented.
